One Toe Many Inconsistencies

A 43-year-old driver allegedly injured himself when a 200lb cart rolled over his foot while unloading his delivery truck. This driver worked the rest of the day, not mentioning any injury incident to his employer. After work, he noticed blood on his sock, beneath his steel-toed boot and decided to go to the Emergency Room. Once there, the worker claimed to need to hold onto nearby supports due to difficulty walking.

The driver’s story began to fall apart when the physician immediately noted that the steel-toe boot had no apparent damage.  The physician stated that the toe claimed as injured had recently undergone a minor procedure for an ingrown toenail. Also questioning the injury’s validity, his employer promptly reviewed their security camera footage. The employer noted that the video contradicted the driver’s statement of what had occurred.

Based on the evidence gathered, ICW Group denied the driver’s claim. ICW Group’s Special Investigations Unit packaged the case for the District Attorney’s Office to review. Due to the discrepancies in his claims, this case may lead to potential criminal prosecution.
